Teeing Off a Hopeful Christmas

Thanks to Ian Borlase and West Watford Golfing Society, New Hope recently received a donation of £1,000 to support the costs of Christmas activities within its services.

New Hope’s early intervention service for people who are rough sleeping, the Haven Support Centre, will cook and serve a full roast buffet for an expected 20-25 service users. The manager of the Rough Sleeping Prevention Service said “it’s important for us to provide a safe, welcoming space for rough sleepers over Christmas. We hope it will help them feel hope in this difficult time of year.”

The Tenancy Sustainment Team (TST) met with the service users they support who live in their own accommodation and have arranged a subsidised group meal out at a local affordable restaurant. A TST support worker said “Christmas can be a lonely time for our service users. This meal out is a great opportunity to socialise and for bonding between staff, service users and their peers.”

New Hope House will be hosting a communal roast dinner for the residents where Christmas jumpers are optional as for some, Christmas can be a very difficult time. The manager feels that “it’s nice to offer the family, homely atmosphere for those who want that, but it’s an opportunity for everyone to make the day their own.”

New Hope would like to thank Mr Borlase and West Watford Golfing Society for their kindness each year in supporting the Christmas Dinners across their services. Such generous support will ensure that the service users will receive the support and hope they need in this difficult season.
